MaruDoc

Privacy Policy

MaruDoc collects no data about you. All processing happens on your Mac.

Effective October 19, 2026 · Provided by Yitao Ding

What we collect

MaruDoc does not collect personal information, file contents, file names, usage data or device information, and it does not send any of these to the developer or to anyone else. There is no analytics, no advertising and no account.

How your files are handled

Conversion, editing, text recognition and background removal use frameworks built into macOS and run on your Mac. MaruDoc contains no networking code, so your files never leave your Mac. The Mac App Store version runs in the App Sandbox without network permission.

Settings

Settings such as the press-and-hold delay are stored only on your Mac, in macOS preferences. If you save a signature, it is also stored only on your Mac. Neither is sent anywhere.

Permissions

MaruDoc uses three permissions. Each is used only for the purpose below and never to collect information.

  1. Finder extension: to show the MaruDoc menu when you right-click a file.
  2. Accessibility: to detect a press and hold on a desktop file, identify the file you pressed and follow the pointer. MaruDoc does not record what is on your screen or what you type.
  3. Automation of Finder: to place a converted file next to the original on the desktop.

Sharing with third parties

Because MaruDoc collects no information, it has nothing to share with third parties.
